Job Description

The role is integrated in the Tire and Vehicle Interaction Department (Performance Expert Fields and Prediction – Continental Tires Research & Development PLT OE).

Your main tasks are:

- Initiates and leads the development of tools and methods to facilitate the virtual transformation of OE product development process in the field of Tire Characteristics and Vehicle Dynamics
- Special focus on the tire models employed by the vehicle industry for such purposes (MFTire, FTire, CDTire)
- Close contact with internal stakeholders (OE Product Development Teams) and external customers (OE customers)
- Identifies strategic directions and defines concrete realization steps, regarding the efficient parameter identification of tire models using physical and especially virtual (FEM-based) tests

Qualifications

- Academic degree in the field of Engineering or physical/Natural Sciences or similar
- Deep knowledge and understanding of tire/vehicle interaction mechanisms, with a special focus on steering/handling/ride/comfort
- Deep knowledge and understanding of tire models employed by the vehicle industry to capture the interaction between wheel and vehicle subsystems (MFTire, FTire, CDTire), especially regarding their modeling and simplification principles, testing, parameter identification process, limitations, application scenarios, vehicle model integration, etc.
- Practical experience with FEM method development & application, ideally in the field of tire characteristics and structural dynamics prediction
- Experience with human-in-the-loop vehicle dynamics simulation systems (driving simulators) and the respective tire modeling
- Experience with problem-solving, ideally in product development by application of non-standard CAE concept definition and programming
- English language fluency (written and spoken)
- Project management experience; proven performance under pressure and tight schedules
