Aufgaben Als Full-Stack-Softwareentwickler/in gestalten Sie aktiv die
Weiterentwicklung unserer Applikationen mit. Sie arbeiten sowohl an
Backend- als auch an Frontend-Komponenten und bringen Ihre Expertise
in technische Designentscheidungen ein. Ihr Beitrag umfasst
insbesondere: Entwicklung neuer Anwendungen Betreuung, Wartung und
Optimierung bestehender Systemkomponenten Konzeption und
Implementierung objektorientierter Softwaremodule Erstellung und
Pflege automatisierter Testverfahren Analyse und Evaluierung neuer
Technologien Ihr Profil Abgeschlossenes Studium der (Wirtschafts-)
Informatik oder eine vergleichbare Qualifikation Fundierte Kenntnisse
in Java, relationalen Datenbanken, SQL sowie in HTML5, JavaScript und
CSS Erfahrung mit Frameworks wie Spring Boot, Hibernate sowie Web
Services (REST, SOAP) Idealerweise Kenntnisse in Vue.js, Bootstrap und
SASS/LESS Von Vorteil sind zudem Erfahrung mit OOA/OOD, Design
Patterns sowie Testautomatisierung (TDD) Selbstständige,

Background

We are currently looking for a permanent (internal) AI Solution Engineer (Python), to join our team at the Freshfields Lab of around 20+ people conceptualising, build and scaling digital solutions in the legal world. The team currently consists of 4 machine learning engineers (also involved in the development of the backend), 10 developers with diverse skillsets and backgrounds, 5 part-time interns and trainees and several lawyers working in the team. The Freshfields Lab is part of the global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, with 27 offices in the world's major business and financial centres and more than 2,800 lawyers. We, as the Freshfields Lab, currently develop and support more than 10 core platforms (web applications with multiple integrations) for more than 2,800 users in more than 140 countries worldwide. Your responsibilities

Solution Design & Implementation

- Plan and design innovative AI/ML solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Implement and support the development of Python-based services and applications.
- Maintain and improve existing AI/ML solutions to enhance performance and scalability.
- Support troubleshooting and resolve system issues as the designated technical specialist.
- Set up systems implement solutions for ad-hoc data analysis and document processing exercises.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, business stakeholders, IT security, and architecture teams to gather and align requirements.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

- Identify opportunities to enhance the firm's technology stack and contribute to its evolution.
- Introduce and promote best practices in AI/ML solution design, DevOps, and development.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in AI, ML, and software engineering.

Your requirements

- Technical Expertise:
- Experience with Generative AI and common models, especially GPT
- Understanding of traditional ML models and algorithms
- Hands-on track record working with Python in a professional environment
- Development & DevOps: Hands-on experience with git/git-flow, containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines (ideally Azure DevOps)
- Communication: Strong English communication skills to engage with cross-functional stakeholders

Your experience

- Experience with RAG solutions, search, document pre-processing (including OCR), chunking and other GenAI tactics
- Prior experience working in legal tech or professional services firms.
- Knowledge of Azure Cloud, including AKS, Service Bus, Azure OpenAI and Form Recognizer
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
- Experience in agile, fast paced environments
- Understanding of the security and compliance requirements of a professional services firm
