How You’ll Make an Impact

Our multi-cultural Team supports customers throughout Europe. Our Team accompanies researchers at each step of their Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) project, from planning, through the submission, project processing, data delivery, post-delivery support.

This is a project management role that works closely with Team Leads, Technical Application Scientists, Sales, Customers, operations, bioinformatics and logistics.

The goals are to effectively support and provide NGS solutions from Azenta/ GENEWIZ NGS portfolio to customer’s biological questions, and to manage customer’s confirmed NGS projects. This is a great opportunity to grow and expand your genomics/NGS knowledge and skills. This position is located in our Leipzig office (Germany).

What You’ll Do

- Review and ensure accurate submission of general inquiry information for quote generation.
- Provide NGS consultation for projects via mail, video calls, site visits.
- Support drafting NGS quotes for standard services and advanced technologies.
- Manage confirmed NGS projects.
- Provide updates to customers for their projects.
- Support Senior Study Managers and Team Leads in account and process management.

What You’ll Bring

- B.Sc./ B.A. in Life Sciences required, MS preferred.
- Initial relevant experience preferred.
- Background in molecular biology required with experience in genetics and genomics preferred.
- Customer service and/ or scientific presentation experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organized work style are essential.
- English language skills, verbal and written, are essential.
- German and/ or French language skills are an advantage.
- Master common office software (especially Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Ihre Aufgaben als Praktikant (m/w/d) in unserem Laborteam:

Wir bieten Ihnen die Möglichkeit, Ihre beruflichen Erfahrungen und Kenntnisse auszubauen, indem Sie aktiv an den Prozessen in unseren Laboren mitarbeiten können, bis hin zur Übernahme von eigenen Aufgabenbereichen, Schwerpunkt Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).

Dazu gehört:

- Aktive Mitarbeit an verschiedenen gentechnischen Arbeiten wie Plasmidpräparation, DNA-/ RNA-Isolierung, Rolling-Circle-Amplification.
- Mitwirkung an verschiedenen molekularbiologischen Methoden wie PCR, PCR-Aufreinigung und Gelelektrophorese.
- Einführung in den Umgang mit Pipettierrobotern und Sequenziergeräten (Next Generation Sequenzierung).
- Nachhalten und Dokumentieren von Verbrauchsmaterialien, Reagenzien und Chemikalien.
- Unterstützung des Laborteams bei der Herstellung und Aufreinigung von PCR-Produkten.
- Unterstützung der Logistikabteilung, unter anderem durch Verpacken und Versenden von Samples oder Probenboxen.

Was Sie mitbringen

- Sie absolvieren ein Studium der Biologie, Chemie, Biotechnologie oder ähnliches.

Für unsere Arbeitsgruppe »Klinischer Gentransfer« suchen wir zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt eine*n Wissenschaftliche*n Mitarbeiter*in (Postdoc) am Standort Leipzig. Die neu eingerichtete Arbeitsgruppe befasst sich mit der grundlegenden Molekularbiologie, der zellulären Regulation und den genetischen Anwendungen von transposablen Elementen (Transposons). Die Nutzung Transposon-basierter Genvektoren zur genetischen Manipulation von Säugetierzellen (einschließlich des Menschen) befindet sich aktuell auf dem Vormarsch. Auf dieser Basis entwickelt die Gruppe innovative, nichtvirale Gentransfertechnologien in den Bereichen Gentherapie und regenerative Medizin mit dem Ziel, diese Technologien in die klinische Anwendung zu führen.

Im Rahmen der Stelle arbeiten Sie im Forschungsverbund »CAR Factory - eine Hochleistungsplattform zur Entwicklung genetisch optimierter CAR-T- und NK-Zelltherapien gegen Krebs« mit, der von der Deutschen Krebshilfe gefördert wird.
In Ihrer Hand liegt die Vorbereitung und funktionelle Validierung von Genvektoren in vitro.
Sie erstellen Protokolle für das Transposon-Engineering von menschlichen T- und NK-Zellen und führen die Insertionsprofilierung von Vektorintegrationsstellen und die Analyse der Vektorkopienzahl in CAR-T- und CAR-NK-Zellen durch.
Die CAR-T- und CAR-NK-Zellen validieren Sie in Xenograft-Mausmodellen.
Sie erstellen Projektberichte und Publikationen und präsentieren Ihre Ergebnisse bei Projekttreffen und auf nationalen und internationalen Fachtagungen.
Bei der fachlichen Betreuung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses geben Sie Ihr Wissen aktiv weiter.

Sie verfügen über ein abgeschlossenes wissenschaftliches Hochschulstudium mit Promotion im Bereich der Lebenswissenschaften.

Technische*r Assistent*in (MTA/BTA/CTA) / Biologielaborant*in in der Qualitätskontrolle
Ihr Tätigkeitsbereich umfasst die Umsetzung und Auswertung von Laborversuchen zur Entwicklung und Validierung analytischer Methoden. Zudem führen Sie routinemäßig verschiedene biochemische, zellbiologische, mikrobiologische, virologische, molekularbiologische und physikalisch-chemische Analysen durch und dokumentieren diese lückenlos.
Im Rahmen der Labororganisation sind Sie für die Betreuung und Pflege der Geräte zuständig und verantwortlich für das Probenmanagement. Sie stellen einen reibungslosen Arbeitsablauf sicher, indem Sie die Materialplanung vornehmen, Bestellungen auslösen und den Wareneingang kontrollieren.
Sie erstellen qualitätsrelevante Dokumente wie Laborprotokolle, Prüfanweisungen, SOPs, Abweichungen und Change-Control-Anträge unter Einhaltung der Guten Dokumentationspraxis nach GMP.

Our Product Innovation department focuses on innovation management for industrial biotechnology with an emphasis on pharmaceutical applications. True to the motto "the best of nature for the best of mankind", new products are identified and evaluated through systematic research coupled with creative thinking. Biotechnologist, Biologist, (Bio)Chemist as Product Innovation Associate (m/f/d) in the field of biotechnology
You will help us identify and develop new business opportunities.
You will search for and evaluate market & scientific data to assess the potential of new product ideas for commercialization.
You will monitor current market and technology trends.
As a part of the Product Innovation team you will network our company with the pharmaceutical industry, e. g. by participating at international conferences & trade shows (less than 15 % travel required).
You will prepare presentations of new business opportunities and project designs for our senior management and for potential cooperation partners in the industry.
You will take on tasks related to project coordination.

Academic degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a comparable education
Ideally some experience in industrial biotechnology and a basic understanding how it contributes to the biopharmaceutical industry
Optimistic and creative problem-solving attitude
Analytical mind with a strong affinity for data
Proactive, ambitious character who can operate both independently and as part of a team
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Excellent English and basic German skills

Research Area

We are seeking a strong early career researcher for an open PhD position. The successful candidate will investigate a novel molecular switch controlling thrombo-inflammation based on the interaction of TF (F3, tissue factor) and interferon-alpha receptor subunit 1 (IFNAR1) using cell biological, protein biochemical and in vivo approaches. Thrombo-inflammation is a central mechanism of tissue injury in many diseases, including vascular, metabolic and cancer, yet effective therapies are lacking. We have identified a novel molecular switch that controls thrombo-inflammation, which will be characterized in different disease models and in humans to find new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
The successful candidate will study the regulation of TF-IFNAR1 interaction and intracellular signaling in vitro and in vivo. We will use advanced in vitro methods, various omics approaches and innovative in vivo models. Detailed structure-function analyses based on newly generated structural data will be performed to define the molecular mechanisms as a basis for innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Candidates must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in a biomedical field (biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, physiology or equivalent) and preferably have previous experience in at least one of the methodological areas of this project: cell culture, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, flow cytometry, microscopy, immunohistochemistry. The position will be paid according to the German civil service salary scale.
The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative institute and will have access to state-of-the-art facilities for molecular biology, protein biochemistry, biophysics, pharmacology, mouse genetics, and the latest imaging applications including light sheet and FRET microscopy. The position will be embedded in the ERC-funded project TameThiFlame. The Medical Faculty is located within the University of Leipzig with direct access to numerous research facilities of the University and extramural institutes such as the Helmholtz, Max Planck and Fraunhofer Institutes.
