audEERING GmbH team is seeking an experienced research leader for the Audio AI Research team to drive the development of innovative speech and language technologies.
In this role, you will be responsible for defining the research direction, aligning it with the companies strategic and business goals, and leading the innovation, training and evaluation of advanced language, voice, and speech AI models.

• Define and drive the research strategy in alignment with company strategy and business goals, setting ambitious yet achievable milestones to lead the team’s pioneering efforts in speech AI and voice interaction.
• Set and elevate research and engineering standards through hands-on technical work, directly contributing to the development of our codebase and running key experiments.
• Mentor and guide a team of researchers at various levels to explore new approaches, understand and question existing state-of-the-art methods, and pursue innovative solutions beyond conventional paths.
• Manage scientific dissemination, invention disclosure, protection of intellectual property, and academic publications in accordance with company strategy.
• Support the management team in identifying and translating research opportunities into product innovations.

Essential Skills
• Proven experience leading research or engineering teams on high-impact, long-term projects - from defining the research scope and roadmap to execution and delivering results on time via product demonstrations, scientific reports or publications
• 5+ years post-PhD hands-on experience in machine learning research as an individual contributor, which led first author publications at top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, Interspeech and ICASSP)
• 1+ year of experience working with cross-functional product and business team
• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related field
• Empathy and a humble, curious mindset with deep respect for collaboration and diverse expertise; excellent team player, problem solver and goal achiever
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, from junior researchers to C-level non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work in a fast-evolving field, dynamic work environment and to deliver on time
• Deep understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence, including training algorithms, evaluation and statistics especially for textless speech models, transformers and other (recurrent) neural network architectures
• Strong proficiency in Python and PyTorch (or closely related frameworks), with extensive experience in implementing and optimizing machine learning workloads
• Experience in developing large-scale multimodal language models or conversational speech systems
• Experience in distributed, parallel training on large-scale computing clusters, e.g. with major cloud computing providers such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle

As a Senior AI Researcher (m/f/d), you’ll lead the development of LLMs, push the boundaries of multi-modal AI, and translate state-of-the-art research into production-ready innovations. This role blends advanced NLP research with hands-on engineering — from data curation and model training to distributed systems and performance optimization. Your Responsibilities
• Pre-training & Specializing LLMs – Be responsible for developing, optimizing, and adapting largescale language models for a variety of applications, ensuring efficiency, adaptability, and high performance. Contribute to model refinement and specialization, leveraging advanced training methodologies to enhance capabilities across domains. Work on evaluation and benchmarking frameworks to assess and improve model effectiveness, enabling robust and scalable AI solutions.
• Applied Research & Hands-On Development – Combine applied NLP research with hands-on engineering, spanning model training, fine-tuning, prompting, and deployment. Set up and manage computing clusters, distributed training environments, and compute optimization for large-scale experiments.
• Data Curation & Model Preparation – Handle data curation, dataset selection, and checkpoint preparation to facilitate high-quality model training and evaluation.
• State-of-the-Art Research & Implementation – Stay up to date with cutting-edge AI research, identify and understand state-of-the-art techniques, and translate them into technical reports, papers, and production-ready implementations.
• Multi-Modal AI Development – Contribute to multi-modal AI, integrate various data modalities and develop novel multi-modal large-scale models.

Essential Skills
• PhD (or equivalent substantial related work experience in a R&D department in industry) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
• First-author publications at top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, Interspeech, and ICASSP) or machine learning journals, or author of patents
• Profound understanding of the field of AI, including fundamental concepts of Machine Learning, training algorithms, evaluation methods and statistics
• Good knowledge of recent Deep Learning architectures

What you´ll do

- Provide routine operations support for flying missions' operational mission control systems
- Interface to multiple space agencies, companies and vendors within satellite/space business

What Challenge will you be taking on?

In our team you will support the teams on the Galileo satellite projects with your expertise in the field of cybersecurity.

Your main tasks will be:

- Establish a baseline for the usage of different network protocols by analyzing system log extractions.
- Define and update ground and space operational procedures as required.
- Develop and document procedures for log extraction and analysis.
- Provide cybersecurity expertise from an operations perspective to support modifications to existing ground segment elements.
- Conduct routine checks on network security status and configuration based on ISO 27001 standards.
- Establish and maintain a configuration baseline for the system.
- Perform offline trend analysis with Splunk on extracted logs.
- Assess and analyze the system hardening status.
- Support the integration, testing, and handover process from equipment developers to operations, validating the closure of identified vulnerabilities.
- Evaluate the impact of new configurations on operational products and processes.

We are looking for graduates in Cybersecurity Engineering with interest in the space sector.
