Foundation Year Lecturer in Informatics and Programming (m/f/d)

(part-time, 19.5 h/week, 2-year limited contract to be filled by June/July 2025)

Constructor University is a private, English-speaking campus university in Germany, fully accredited by the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. Renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, the university maintains the highest standards in research and teaching, fostering a vibrant and diverse academic community. Constructor University seeks an inspired lecturer that would teach Foundation Year modules in Informatics, Computer Literacy, and Programming over two consecutive semesters within the academic year. The IFY program offers small class groups (25-30 students) and thus the interested candidate should be able to teach the material in a highly interactive manner. The candidate will receive multiple support and guidance from the IFY team and the opportunity to grow their career within the department.

Your responsibilities:

- Demonstrable interest in innovative teaching and learning approaches.
- Teaching introductory modules related to Computer Systems and Literacy.
- Teaching fundamental Programming and Coding Modules related to Python and C/C++.
- Teaching introductory skills modules in Applied Excel.
- Supervision of learning processes and assessing their outcomes through weekly tutorials.
- Administration, proctoring and correction of student examinations (midterm and final).
- Effective use and population of Learning Management Systems (e.g. Moodle) for course material (e.g. slides) and assessment (e.g. assignments, online quizzes) delivery.
- Dedicated weekly in person teaching with administrative responsibilities on campus.

Your qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Proven experience in teaching subjects related to Computer Informatics and Programming
- Proven experience in teaching in international and diverse environments
- Excellent English competence both verbal and written
- Passion for working with young international students.

Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Modern Electrical Engineering) (m/f/d)

(full time; 38.5 hrs./week; tenure track)

Your responsibilities:

You will support our research and teaching activities in the field of Electrical Engineering by establishing an independent research group focusing on research topics related to cutting-edge topics within modern Electrical Engineering. Possible areas of interest are:

- Information and Coding Theory
- Advanced Signal Processing
- Satellite and Space Communications
- RF Engineering and Antenna Systems
- Nano/Optoelectronic Devices
- Optical Communications
- Quantum Engineering and Computing
- Bioelectronics and Flexible Electronics
- Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Electronics
- Automation and Control Systems

The successful candidate is expected to support teaching in Electrical Engineering at the Bachelor and Master level (for example Signals and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Information Theory); as well as develop and implement innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to online, hybrid and in-person teaching and learning; advise students on their studies; and supervise Bachelor, Master’s and PhD theses and research projects.

Your qualifications and experience:

- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Nanoengineering, Quantum Engineering, or a closely related field
- Proven research expertise in one or more modern areas of Electrical Engineering, evidenced by a strong publication record
- Experience teaching fundamental Electrical Engineering courses, with a demonstrated ability to engage and mentor students
- Demonstrable experience in leading or collaborating on funded research projects, with a focus on interdisciplinary approaches and real-world applications
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and experience in mentoring students across undergraduate and graduate levels
- Fluency in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus

Your responsibilities:

The School of Science is particularly interested in candidates investigating physiological and pathological processes in eukaryotic cells using innovative imaging, cell culture techniques, or omics approaches. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a cutting-edge externally funded research program that synergizes with existing research groups in the School of Science.

The successful candidate will conduct teaching in the life sciences, including fundamental and advanced cell biology lectures and laboratories at the BSc, MSc, and PhD level. She/He will be expected to develop and implement innovative, pedagogically sound approaches to online, hybrid and in-person teaching and learning, to advise students on their studies, and to supervise Bachelor, Master and PhD theses and research projects.
