Airbus Defence and Space is developing embedded real-time software for military aircraft. The domain is therefore set to safety or mission critical products. The development shall fulfil considerations of certification aspects as per RTCA DO-178C and its supplements. Furthermore, the product is to be certified according to DO-297, covering Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) Development, DO-326A, covering Airworthiness Security Process Specification and DO-356A, covering Airworthiness Security Methods and Considerations.

Today, virtualization technologies are utilized in several domains as they bring diverse benefits such as the principle of loose coupling. This enables faster deployment and less integration effort but also the important advantage of controlled resource allocation and management.

Different container runtimes are well known and applied in industry. However, none of them are applied in Avionics. As a starting point it is required to compare the virtualization techniques w.r.t. certification objectives, identify possible hindrances and recommend the necessary Means of Compliance.

Your tasks and responsibilities

- Identify critical objectives of the above-mentioned certification guidelines in the context of WebAssembly and Clang (additional concepts can be included as well)
- Assess the fulfillment of objectives, e.g. by reviewing the applied mechanism of the technology (e.g. review WCET calculation options)
- Recommend practices towards fulfillment of the objectives, e.g. propose amendments of the architecture or design/ propose a new standard
- Implement one selected amendment to WebAssembly/ Clang
- Implement a small demonstration of avionics software on amended WebAssembly/ Clang

The Thesis shall address the following research questions

- Which assurance is required in order to fullfill the certification objectives when utilizing WebAssembly/ Clang?
- Which Means of Compliance can be applied for the fulfilment of the certification objectives?
- Which architecture elements are necessary for the implementation on the amended WebAssembly/ Clang?

Desired skills and qualifications

- Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in the area of computer science, mathematics or related areas
- Good programming skills
- UML, SysML (an advantage)
- Knowledge in virtualization technologies (in particular WebAssembly, Clang, others)
- Knowledge of functionality and architecture of embedded systems (an advantage)
- Knowledge in modeling methods and tools (an advantage)

Freigabe von Arbeiten im Rahmen der Instandhaltungstätigkeiten
Mitarbeiter ohne PART66 MAML fachlich anweisen, unterstützen und überwachen
Durchführung von planbaren und nicht planbaren Instandhaltungsarbeiten
Durchführung von Fehlersuchen an elektrischen Systemen und deren Behebung
Einrüsten von elektrischen Modifikationen, Nachrüstungen und Technischen Änderungen
Durchführen von Reparaturen gemäß technischen Vorgaben
Funktionsprüfungen und Einstellarbeiten elektrischer Komponenten
Durchführung von Befundungen, Auswertung und Bewertung von Abweichungen
Ab- und Aufrüstarbeiten
Montage- und Demontagetätigkeiten
Durchführung von komplexen elektrischen Systemtests
Eigenverantwortliche Führung der arbeitsbegleitenden Dokumentation

Gewünschte Fähigkeiten und Qualifikationen:
Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung zum Fluggerätmechaniker, Fluggerätelektroniker oder vergleichbar
EASA/DEMAR PART 66 CAT B2 Lizenz mit Mustereinträgen ist Voraussetzung
Umfangreiche Erfahrung in der zivilen Luftfahrzeuginstandhaltung und/oder A400M Programm ist Voraussetzung
Mehrjährige Erfahrung als EASA/DEMAR PART 145 CAT B2 ist von Vorteil
Hohes Maß an Teamgeist und Belastbarkeit
Sehr gute Serviceorientierung und Problemlösungsfähigkeit

A400M - Certifying Staff / Support Staff CAT B2 (d/m/w)



Als Certifying Staff/Support Staff CAT B2 (d/m/w) in der Line und Base Maintenance begleiten Sie im Team gemeinsam mit ihren Kollegen die Instandhaltung des weltweit modernsten Militärtransporters A400M am Airbus Defence and Space Standort in Manching. Zusätzlich werden die fallweise A400M Kunden bei geplanten und ungeplante Instandhaltungsmaßnahmen weltweit unterstützen.
